Episode 797

In an effort to make amends, Siobhan sets out to prepare lunch for Ryan.  Jack tells an astonished Kevin about his conversation with Siobhan explaining her new lease on life.  Tom continues his campaign to make Faith happy and takes her to the park for the afternoon.  Siobhan panics when she discovers that her dog has eaten Ryan's lunch.  When Roger teaches Delia about money management, Delia kisses him, a move that startles them both.  Siobhan elicits Jack's feelings about children and is impressed when he relates his fathering instincts with his orphanage experience.  Delia becomes offended when Roger makes it clear that he doesn't want to make love to her, but fails when she uses emotional blackmail to get her way.  Home from the park, Tom and Faith fantasize about what their children will look like and enjoy one another's company.  It ends when Faith is overcome by stomach pains.

Episode 798

Edmund's condition deteriorates and Seneca summons Jill to send him down for x-rays immediately.  When Seneca calls Faith, Tom is concerned that Faith is going to lose the baby and refuses to allow her to leave his sight.  Faith gives her diagnosis by phone and implores Seneca not to tell Jill about her cramps.  Later, Tom calls Dr. Wolfe, against Faith's wishes, and threatens him into making a house call.  When Jill finds out that Edmund has to undergo exploratory surgery, she calls Frank to give him the news.  Dr. Wolfe reinforces to Faith that she has to stay off of her feet for a couple days.  Jill tells Frank that there is no need for him to come home and that she will update him as soon as there is news.  Worried, Frank angers Rae when he tells her that he is going home to check on Edmund.

Episode 799

Jill and Seneca wait as Edmund undergoes surgery; Jill wonders if she should call Frank.  In the surgery room, Roger oversees surgery on his nephew.  Siobhan makes plans with Maeve to go shopping at the mall, which, to Siobhan's dismay, is spoiled when Jill calls with news about Edmund.  When Maeve leaves for the hospital, a hurt Siobhan tells Kevin that if she were Mary, Maeve would have invited her to go along.  With a diagnosis being made about Edmund's condition, recovery is anticipated.  Later, needing a rest, Jill leaves the hospital and gives them Seneca's number as a way to reach her.  Siobhan shares with Jack about not feeling like a true member of the family and leaves to go shopping alone.  When Maeve arrives and finds that Siobhan has gone, she realizes that she has missed Siobhan, in every sense of the word.  Frank arrives at the hospital and gets word on Edmund's medical condition.  When he inquires about Jill, he learns that she has gone to Seneca's apartment to rest and leaves upset.

Episode 800

Leaving the house for food, Tom instructs Faith to rest and not get out of bed.  Delia calls Faith's house in hopes of borrowing a serving platter.  When there is no answer, she decides that no one will know if she goes up for a few minutes.  Later, Delia makes a noise alarming Faith, who, thinking it to be an intruder, heads downstairs.  When she finds Delia hiding, she asks her why she did not answer when she called.  An upset Frank tells Maeve that Jill is spending the evening with Seneca.  After a good nap, Jill enjoys Seneca's company and is put on the spot when Seneca tells her he cares about her and Edmund and asks her if she is going to do anything about it.  Later, Seneca tells Jill that Frank is not going to be the man that she wants him and she should take that into consideration.  A frustrated Frank tells Maeve that every time he thinks there is a chance for him and Jill, Seneca comes into the picture.  When Delia expresses sympathy for her, Faith tells her to save the pity for herself.  Meanwhile, Tom comes home and becomes agitated when he finds Faith standing in the living room with Delia.

Episode 801

Tom is enraged to find Faith on her feet, and orders Delia to leave and never come back.  Frank admits to Bob how angry and upset he was to learn that Jill was at Seneca's apartment.  Bob advises him not to jump to conclusions, but Frank flares in response.  Roger arrives at Faith's and both she and Delia each tell him their sides of the story.  Roger comes to Delia's defense and tells Tom that he will determine when Delia leaves.  He watches Tom closely as Tom restrains his anger.  Johnny calms Maeve as she gets emotional over Jill and Frank's situation.  Their conversation turns to Siobhan, and Maeve notes her frustration over Siobhan's issues with Mary.  She assures Johnny that she and Mary will both continue to try and have patience for Siobhan.  Meanwhile, Tom calms down and carries Faith to bed.  In Roger's apartment, Delia tells Roger that she truly believes Tom is crazy.  After Delia insists that she's really trying to behave, Roger agrees to let her stay as long as she promises to stay away from Faith's home.

Episode 802

Marsha notifies Mary that she is quitting her job, and that Mary is now the new Press Secretary for New York.  Mary calls Bob in dismay and asks for help, saying that her marriage will be in trouble if she tries to do both jobs.  At the hospital, Nancy pleads with Seneca to let her go home.  Seneca advises her that only the physician of record, Dr. Ryan, can release her; he promises to have a look at her records and put in a word with Pat.  Meanwhile, Mary arrives home to find Jack playing cards with Jumbo.  After she briefs him on her job situation, Jack gives a sarcastic running commentary on Mary's career to Ryan and Jumbo.  Mary listens for a moment, then finally erupts and tells Jack that she's had it.  Seneca and Pat both agree that Nancy can be released from the hospital the following week.  After Seneca leaves, Pat invites Nancy to dinner following her release from the hospital.  Nancy thanks him for the invitation, but isn't sure that she can accept.  Jumbo takes Ryan to another room so that Jack and Mary can have some privacy.  Jack and Mary both think that the other is being unreasonable; their discussion ends unhappily as Jack leaves with Jumbo to go have dinner.

Jill and Seneca are relieved that Edmund is going to be okay.  Jill questions Seneca about why he didn't tell her the truth about Faith's condition.  Later, Jill visits Faith at home.  Faith explains to Jill how much she has grown to care about her unborn baby, and Jill empathizes.  In return, Jill confides in Faith about her feelings for both Frank and Seneca, and how wonderful Seneca has been throughout Edmund's illness.  Meanwhile, Siobhan meets Seneca when she visits Edmund, and they like each other from the start.  Jill visits Maeve and gives her the good news about Edmund.  Maeve tells Jill about Frank's visit to New York, and Jill is dismayed that Frank must have come to the wrong conclusions about her relationship with Seneca.  Jill ponders going upstate to see him, and Maeve agrees that it might be helpful.  Later, when Siobhan arrives and announces how much she enjoyed meeting Seneca Beaulac, it leads to an emotional confrontation with Mary.

Jill sees Seneca in Edmund's hospital room, and asks him if Edmund is well enough for her to leave on an overnight trip.  Seneca becomes angry when he realizes that she wants to visit Frank.  Mary complains to Jack about Siobhan, and is upset when Jack comes to Siobhan's defense.  As she leaves for work, she assures Jack that she will be home to cook dinner.  When Jack questions that, Mary is indignant, insisting that she will be home on time.  Seneca and Jill have an emotional confrontation.  Jill explains that the only way she can consider a relationship with Seneca is to get her head straight first about Frank.  Meanwhile, Rae tries to cheer up Frank with promises of a seductive evening.  Jack tries to help Siobhan see that she should keep certain things to herself, in hopes that she will get along with her family better.  Siobhan insists that she can't change who she is, and she doesn't want to compromise her honesty.  Meanwhile, Rae and Frank go out, looking forward to returning later to an intimate evening together.  After they leave, Jill drops a message for Frank with the hotel operator that she is coming to visit, and is arriving about eleven p.m.

Episode 805

When they return to the hotel, Rae intercepts Jill's phone message and hides it in a stack of papers.  Unaware, Frank tells Rae that he is going to take a shower and return with champagne.  Roger is impressed when Delia tells him that she met with a commodities broker and invested $5,000.  He is touched when she gives him a terrycloth bathrobe as a present.  In thanks, Roger gives Delia a passionate kiss.  Rae sets the stage for Jill's arrival, telling the desk clerk that Frank is expecting visitors and to send them straight up to the room.  When Frank gets out of the shower, Rae seduces him into bed.  Roger and Delia are breathless after their kiss and continue to share in their delight of the day's events.  As they continue to kiss, Delia moves to the bed and motions for Roger to join her.  Meanwhile, Rae and Frank are having a great time together.  As Frank goes to the living room dressed only in his robe to get more champagne, he opens the bottle and there is a knock at the door; Jill enters the room.  Frank looks shocked as Jill tells him that she hopes he is glad to see her.

Episode 806

Rae overhears Jill and Frank talking and sets out to make matters worse for the two.  Jill realizes that Frank is not alone when Rae calls from the bedroom for her glass of champagne.  After excusing Rae from the conversation, Jill tells Frank exactly how she feels.  Rae comes to Frank's defense and tells Jill to think before she makes the biggest mistake of her life.  Later, Frank and Jill have an emotional confrontation about the people in their lives and decide to call it quits once and for all.  Meanwhile, due to religious beliefs, Nancy opposes seeing Pat outside the hospital, but later agrees to spend the day with him on Bucky's houseboat, as long as his family is there.  Thrilled, Pat goes about making plans and confirms Maeve and Johnny's attendance, telling them to invite anyone they like.  Unable to believe what has happened, Frank forgives Rae when she "realizes" that she mistakenly placed the message from Jill at the bottom of his message pile.  At the airport, a tear-faced Jill realizes that it is over once and for all.

As the two settle down for the evening, Jack tries to cuddle with Mary and becomes angry when she leaps off the bed to write reminders for things that she needs to do for the campaign.  Meanwhile, Roger is called out of bed on a hospital emergency and Delia proves to herself yet again that she is growing up when she copes with it without trying to manipulate him into staying.  While Mary continues to scribble reminders, Jack directs her attention back to him and tells her that working for Frank will never be good.  Later, when Seneca tells Roger that Jill has gone upstate to see Frank, Roger learns that Seneca thinks Jill is making a huge mistake.  When Jack explains to Mary that when she is away, he feels abandoned, Mary promises to hire another press assistant soon so she can devote more time to her family.

Episode 808

Jill arrives at Faith's and shocks her with news of finding Frank and Rae together.  When Faith wonders if it were just temporary, Jill tells her that it was planned.  When Jill leaves, Tom tells Faith that he will have to go away on business for a day.  He makes Faith promise to take it easy.  Later, Faith pays a visit to Maeve and Johnny and has to keep her feelings to herself when they bring up Frank and the campaign.  When Faith discusses having to take it easy for a while, Maeve and Johnny invite her to spend the day with the family at the houseboat.  Knowing that Tom will be away, Faith agrees and goes home to prepare for the outing.   Jill visits Edmund and tells him that things are not going well with Frank, but assures him that things will work out just fine for them.  Later, Jill is grateful when Seneca passes up the opportunity to say, "I told you so" about her and Frank and accepts an invitation to dinner.

Episode 809

Nancy and Pat arrive at the houseboat.  When she asks who else will be coming, she is surprised when Pat tells her that Faith will be there and that Tom is away on business.  Meanwhile, as Faith prepares sandwiches for the outing Tom startles her when he enters and asks where she is going for the day.  Taking the easy way out, Faith tells him only half the truth and goes into the story of Frank and Rae as a diversion, unaware that Delia is listening through the dumbwaiter in Roger's apartment.  Later, Delia sells some of her furniture to a used furniture storeowner.  When she tells him that she plans to invest $5000 in commodities, the storeowner warns her against it.  Meanwhile, Pat accuses Nancy of flirting outrageously with him, even though she claims that the two cannot have a relationship because of their religions.  When Faith arrives, she asks Pat where Maeve and Johnny are; he tells her that is a very good question.  When the Ryan's car breaks down, Johnny calls Pat and tells him they won't make it out for the evening.  Leaving the decision up to Faith, they decide to take the boat out and enjoy the rest of the day.

Siobhan arrives at the Fenelli's and finds Jack in a nasty temper.   When she tells him that she has come to volunteer herself for the campaign, Jack tells her she could be the very person that saves his marriage.  Meanwhile, Mary calls Frank and tells him if they don't find a new press assistant soon, her marriage is going to fall apart.  When Frank delivers the news to Rae, she assures Frank that she will work on hiring someone the very next morning.  Later, Rae tells Frank that she likes where they are and hopes they can enjoy what they have together as long as possible.  On the houseboat, Nancy and Faith discuss the feelings they have for Pat and join forces to fix him up with a nice Catholic girl.  Meanwhile, Mary arrives home and finding Siobhan there, is shocked when Siobhan tells her she wants to help with Frank's campaign, hoping the two of them can get along better.  Later, Mary tells Jack that having Siobhan there will make her life a lot better between now and November.  As she and Nancy prepare dinner, Faith falls on a knife when Pat has an accident.

Episode 811

Pat and Nancy are horrified when Faith yanks the knife from her abdomen.  Handing Nancy a stack of towels, he orders her to apply pressure to Faith's wound as he tries to start the boat engine.  He realizes they are stranded when the engine will not turn.  At the Ryans, Siobhan is hopeful when Johnny supports her decision to work at campaign headquarters.  Her hopes fade when Maeve asks her if working with Mary is a wise thing to do.  Meanwhile, Pat realizes that they have hit ground and the best thing to do, is call the Coast Guard and ask to be met by an ambulance.  Later, Faith tells him if help doesn't arrive soon, she is going to lose the baby and may not make it.  Maeve tells Siobhan that stepping into a situation where Mary is very protective of Frank, is only asking for trouble.  When Siobhan tells Maeve that she is only looking for approval, Maeve tells her to use some common sense and think things through.  Hurt, Siobhan tells Maeve that she is taking the job and is going to wish for the best.  As the Coast Guard approaches, Nancy yells for Pat to check on Faith; she places her hand on Faith's neck and is unable to find a pulse.

Bob is stunned when Frank tells him the details of how Jill found out about him and Rae.  Later, Rae is upset when she overhears Frank telling Bob how much he cares about Jill.  At the bar, Johnny reams Kevin for not having his car fixed and tells him that Pat, Faith, and Nancy were forced to go out without them.  Later, Delia calls Johnny for some financial advice and makes an appointment to see him.  When Frank admits to Rae that his bad mood is a result of Jill's visit, Rae insists to him that what happened is for the best.  Seneca finds Jill in her office alone and sad.  Meanwhile, Delia becomes upset when she consults Johnny about the commodities market and tells her if she goes through with it, she will be sorry, which is exactly what she plans to do.  Jill tells Seneca the gory details about her visit to Frank.  After giving her some advice on dealing with thwarted love, Seneca invites Jill out for a night on the town and is pleased when she accepts.  Alone in his hotel room, Frank is thoughtful about his situation and ponders on what went wrong.

In the Emergency Room, a weary Pat oversees Faith's treatment.  Meanwhile, Roger delivers the news to Pat that he got a hold of Tom who is on his way, but he had to leave word for Jill.  Later, the two are summoned over by a weak Faith who begs them not to tell Tom that Pat was with her on the boat.  At dinner, Jill explores with Seneca some of her feelings about Frank and Rae.  When Seneca asks her how long it will take before the tie is broken, Jill assures him that it is.  At Faith's request, Pat and Roger agree to not tell Tom about Pat being on the houseboat, although they are not comfortable with the lie.  Later, Pat is loving and gentle with an alarmed Faith who fears that she is going to lose the baby.  When he leaves her, Pat is cornered by Nancy and tells her that he does not know if Faith will make it.  Maeve pays a visit to Jill at the hospital and finds out that she and Frank have broken it off completely, though Jill will not tell her why.  While talking, the two receive word about Faith and rush to the Emergency Room.  When they arrive, Pat relays the details about what has happened.  Later, Roger tells the group that Tom is on his way and delivers the news that Faith does not want anyone to know about Pat being with her on the houseboat; Maeve and Jill understand and promise not to say anything.  When Jill gets by Faith's bedside, she is shocked when Faith asks her if she is dying.

Mary and Jack arrive at the hospital to see Faith.  Later, Roger delivers Faith's instruction to not let Tom know that Pat was on the houseboat with Faith; Jack questions whether or not this is wise.  Tom arrives and gets the details on Faith's condition from Roger.  At Faith's bedside, Tom is stricken when realizes the grave condition that Faith is in and does his best to reassure her that everything will be okay.  Delia arrives to tell Roger about the appointment that she has with the commodities broker, but is hurt when Faith's condition distracts him from her.  At her appointment, Delia lies to Mr. Grimley about having more money in her savings account and convinces him to invest her money in the tea market.  Later, when Delia comes to see him at the hospital, Roger tells her that he has too many important things than to give Delia's financial matters any thought.  Meanwhile, Tom struggles to control his tears as Faith is prepped to be moved to another location.  Mary tries convinces Maeve and Jack that telling Tom only half the truth is not lying for Faith, but protecting her from an onslaught of Tom's anger.  Later, Tom implores the group to tell him everything that happened on the houseboat.

In the waiting room, Nancy gives Tom an account of what happened on the houseboat, but leaves out the details of Pat's presence.  Later, when Pat tells Tom what happened when Faith was brought to the Emergency Room, Tom reacts quietly and controls his emotions.  Sensing the need to clear the air, Jack leads Tom to the coffee machine, giving Pat and Maeve time to thank Nancy for stepping in when she did.  Later, Nancy takes Pat's mind off of the situation by telling him about her upcoming therapy program.  Faith's situation is brought up again when Nancy tells Pat it would be awful if Tom found out the truth.  Mary arrives at work frantic that things are going to be out of control and is surprised when she finds Siobhan answering phones and taking messages.  Siobhan is pleased when Mary calls Frank and insists that Siobhan be paid for her efforts and he agrees.  Later, as the two pack to go home, Frank tells Rae that while what they have is wonderful, he is deeply distressed about Jill finding out about them.  When Rae suggests that getting things back to normal may not be as easy as Frank thinks, Frank tells her the best thing to do is go home and deal with whatever may come.  Although dreadfully concerned about Faith, Tom is relieved to find that Pat had no part in the accident.  Later, Faith's nurse finds Tom and tells him the x-rays are back and that he needs to talk to the doctor as soon as possible.

Tom learns from Roger that Faith is in need of emergency surgery but that it poses a substantial risk to the baby.  Later, Jill finds out from Roger how bad things are and agrees to wait as Faith is in surgery.  When Jack tells her that Faith does not want Tom to know that Pat was on the houseboat, Jill is dubious but Jack tells her that Tom is already frantic and his knowing will only make matters worse.  Permission is granted for Pat to observe the surgery.  When Roger questions what good it will do, Pat tells him that for his own conscious he has to be there.  Later, Pat confesses to Roger the feelings that he still has for Faith; Roger tells him there is a big chance that Faith will not make it through surgery.  Jill convinces Tom to go for a walk with her and get some fresh air.  When the two leave, Maeve tells Jack about Jill and Frank's breakup and wonders how things can be over when they share a baby together.  In the operating room, the surgeon tells everyone that Faith's condition is much worse than anyone expected.  At the hospital, Delia is put off when Maeve refuses to acknowledge her accomplishments because of Faith.  Upset, Delia tells Maeve that the world does not revolve around Faith.  Jill mistakenly spills the beans about Frank's affair with Rae.  Meanwhile, Roger arrives to tell the group that Faith has made it through surgery, but the next six hours could tell the story.

Pat tells Nancy that the guilt he is feeling over Faith's accident is too much for him to bear.  In Edmund's waiting room, Jill tells Seneca it is sad to see how much Tom loves Faith, when it is obvious that Faith and Pat love one another but have missed their connection.  Seneca tells her that he loves her and hopes one day they will be together and will not miss their own connection.  At Ryan's, Rae tells Maeve and Johnny the details about Frank's campaign while watching for signs to see if they know about her relationship with Frank.  When Maeve remains detached, Frank realizes that it may be true.  When Rae leaves, Maeve invites Frank to tell his father the whole truth.  While talking to Nancy about Faith's situation with Tom, Pat finds himself drawn to Nancy, despite his feelings for Faith.  While they are talking, Faith's nurse approaches looking for Tom and tells Pat that Faith is going into labor.  Johnny is stunned when he finds out that Frank and Rae are lovers and that Jill found the two together when she tried to spring a surprise visit.  When Frank tries to defend his actions, he becomes angry when Maeve tells him if he'd spent more time trying to be a family and not focused so much on his political career, things would have worked out better.

As Frank reiterates to his parents the reasons for becoming involved with Rae, Maeve suggests that he pay a visit to Edmund and see if it will be easy for him to give up his family.  When she leaves, Johnny tells Frank that he would like to have a word with him.  At campaign headquarters, Rae offers Mary a permanent job until the end of the campaign, complete with nanny, expense account, and any thing else she will need to make it easier for her.  She is shocked when Mary turns her down flat.  Johnny begs Frank to consider Edmund's future to make sure that leaving Jill is the best thing for everyone.  Later, Frank goes to see Edmund and encounters Seneca.  Rae visits Jack at the hospital and makes a pitch to keep Mary on the job for the next nine weeks.  When Jack tells her that he and Ryan need a wife and mother, Rae does a number on him about sharing a life with Mary instead of trying to dominate it, and leaves him to think it over.  In Edmund's room, Frank asks for a moment to speak with Seneca and tells him while things are not what they were with Jill, Seneca should not think for a moment that he can cut him out of Edmund's life because that is one thing he won't be able to do.

Faith awakens and is given the news about her surgery from Roger.  She implores upon Roger to tell Tom the truth about possibly losing the baby.  Later, Roger tells Tom the truth and that there is a slight chance the baby will live.  In the waiting room, Roger tells Jill she can have a few moments with Faith when Tom comes out.  While waiting, Jill meets Mary in the lobby and when Mary tries to talk to her about Frank, Jill is forced to tell her about Frank and Rae.  Upset, Mary storms off to see Frank, and assures Jill that she will not talk to anyone else.  Meanwhile, Tom tells Faith that he loves her and refuses to give up in her and their baby.  Faith tells him that the thought of losing the baby hurts her just as much as it hurts him.  When he leaves Faith's room, Jill asks him if there has been a change and with tears in his eyes, he tells her no.  Frank tells Mary that things between him and Jill won't work.  Upset, Mary tells him that with a baby being involved, he has more to consider than just his feelings.  Later, Mary tells Frank that she is bound to hate Rae, but will try and to put up with her for his sake.  Jill visits Faith and assures her that things are going to be fine and for her not to worry.  Later, Jill becomes anxious when she calls out to Faith, but she answers very slowly.  When she leaves, Jill goes into the waiting room and is comforted by Tom.
